1More Spearhead VR Measurements + Quick Review

Disclaimer: All graphs are taken on my GRAS clone rig. I have done no compensations so these cant be compared to other GRAS rigs over 3.5k. Also ignore most info on GRAS and GRAS clones over 10k.

Above is the measurements of the Spearhead VR over 3.5mm and USB.

As you can see from the measurements over 3.5mm the Spearhead is unusable. There is no bass or low mids. The Mid range has a huge awful hump centred at 1.5k followed by an upper mid range hole. then treble sounds fairly uneven.

Over USB its better but still not good. The treble is more uneven and not has some nasty peaks and retails the hole in the upper mids and hump at 1.5k. Bass under 30hz is bad. When you use it over USB stock will all sound settings off as you can see there is still DSP applied.

I did measure all of the Features. I skipped all the EQ presets because they were so incredibly awful. Here is the Dynamic Bass feature with the cut off set to 100hz.

Above is the same Dynamic bass but this time set to level 5 and only the bass cut off changes.

Audio Brilliance is just a treble boost but it also raises the volume of the whole range by a few dB.

Those are all the graphs I will be posting as everything else only gets worse.

Quick Review (60 Second Reviews)

Build: Just OK, I don't see it breaking from a light drop but its nothing special.

Comfort: Below average. Pads are kind of rough and small, headband pulls the headphone up when worn, articulation is passable I guess.

Mic: Poor, its not a boom arm mic, it just sites in the headset like a BT headphone, so it picks up a lot of background noise even with NC on, and sounds very compressed and distant.

Features: The software is filled with gimmicky settings none really improve it all make it sound worse. The VSS is so over the top and sounds pretty awful. The LED lighting is pointless overall, and the light stick is really dumb.

Sound: It just sounds fairly bad. its a very poorly tuned headset that rely on so much DSP to try and fix it. This results in a very low res sound.

Overall: I picked it up to do a full review because it was only $60CAD and even at this price its not worth it. If the driver stock had the tuning of the headset post DSP but without the 1.5k hump it would actually be OK, but sadly it requires to much DSP to sound decent tuning wise and just ruins any sound quality the driver had to give.
